Tech giant the Intel Corporation announced Tuesday that it will invest more than $2.5 billion in the Texas Tech community to help create a world-class education system.
The company will also hire more than 20,000 new employees and create over $1.4 billion in new jobs.
The new jobs will include technology development, curriculum development, teaching and learning.
The announcement comes on the heels of a report that revealed that Intel had hired 2,500 new workers in Texas in 2017.
The Texas Tech announcement comes in the wake of the news that Intel will pay $1 million to former President Barack Obama to pay a visit to Texas Tech.
President-elect Donald Trump had previously said that Intel would have to pay the former president’s visit to help with job growth in the state.
